Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s Farm Equipment Business is seeing a tremendous performance for July 2026, with the fact that the demand for the products is high in the domestic market, as the agricultural production conditions are improving. Better monsoon and good farm returns, along with positive rural sentiment, boosted the sales of tractors as well.
During July 2026, Mahindra sold 32,643 tractors in the domestic market, compared to 26,990 units in July 2025, registering a 21% year-on-year (YoY) growth. The increased demand for modern farm equipment has been fueled by their confidence in enhancing productivity and efficiency on their farms, which is evident in their attendance at the event.
Mahindra's total tractor sales, which include exports, rose to 34,420 units in July 2026 from 28,708 units a year ago in the same month. During the month, the company shipped 1,777 tractors, sustaining good sales in overseas markets and expanding its market share in India's tractor sector.
Impressive growth in sales was mainly due to positive conditions in the agricultural sector. One of the major factors was the substantial improvement in monsoon rainfall that resulted in improved soil moisture and favourable conditions for agricultural activities in a few states. Better rainfall also resulted in more water, easing the concerns of farmers and allowing them to invest in farm machinery.
Another significant contributor to the rise was the rise in water levels at dams, which has helped in providing irrigation water for crops during the ongoing kharif season. Improving water's availability has prompted farmers to increase farming area and demand for tractors and other farm machines.
The faster kharif sowing and the higher level of activity in crop sowing also contributed to the tractor demand, Mahindra added. With the assistance of timely rains and government schemes, the sowing process has been done properly, and farmers' purchases of agricultural machinery have risen.
The government has also contributed significantly in fueling the rural demand. The purchasing power of farmers has been enhanced by various agricultural schemes, enhanced access to credit and healthy farm cash flows. Consequently, many farmers are opting for new machines for higher productivity, less labour dependency and better farm operations.
Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said that “We have sold 32,643 tractors in the domestic market during July 2026, registering a growth of 21% over last year. Significant recovery in rainfall, improved reservoir levels, accelerated kharif sowing aided by Government support, and healthy farm cashflows have led to positive rural & farmer sentiment.”
Mahindra is positive about the tractor industry going forward. The company is confident that sales of tractors will be strong in the next few months, especially with the good monsoons and the continued support of the government for agriculture, as well as the demand in the rural market. The market conditions are positive, and in this regard, Mahindra and the Indian farm equipment industry will continue to benefit in the second half of the financial year.
